a zen teacher IN THE heart of life

Joa Scetbon is a Paris-based certified Zen teacher, as well as a meditation and mindfulness instructor.

At INSEAD, a world-class business school located in Fontainebleau near Paris, Joa is part of the psychological services team, where he leads the development of mindfulness practices for both students and staff. He also facilitates mindfulness and meditation sessions at the OECD, a multilateral international organization.

Joa has been practicing meditation and studying Zen Buddhism for more than three decades. He is an authorized Zen teacher and a registered member of White Plum Asanga, a U.S.-based organization of leaders of Zen communities. In 2004, he co-founded Wild Flower Zen Sangha, an international community of practitioners, headquartered in Paris.

A French-American educator, he holds degrees in philosophy (Sorbonne), economics (LSE), sociology (EPHE), and wealth management (Paris-Dauphine). His unique background includes careers in publishing, real estate, and finance, allowing him to effectively bridge business expertise with spiritual practice when helping employees and organizations grow.

In addition to his teaching activities, Joa is an editorial consultant, writer, and translator. His work includes the French translations of Buddhism without Beliefs, by Stephen Batchelor, and Instructions to the cook, A Zen Master’s Lessons in Living a Life That Matters, by Bernie Glassman.
